Growing Together In Tune: Caregiver & Baby Group — Attachment & Movement in the First Year

  • The Center for Family Well-Being 5039 Connecticut Ave NW., #7 Washington, DC 20008 USA (map)

This group is for ‘locomoting’ babies, age ~6-12 months, and a parent/caregiver.

Meets 7 Wednesdays: February 18 - April 1, 2026

About the Group

Growing Together is a warm, developmentally supportive parent–baby group, offered after the “4th trimester”. In this group we’ll focus on the early foundations of movement, attachment, and unfolding of the parent/baby relationship in the first year of life. Rooted in the respectful, peaceful principles of the Pikler approach, this group invites parents to accompany their baby in her natural unfolding — in her striving, developing, and learning-to-learn — while cultivating deep attunement and trust.

Within a carefully prepared environment, babies are free to explore movement through their own initiatives — rolling, reaching, sitting, crawling, and beyond — as parents engage in mindful observation and reflective presence. In this way, parents come to know who this baby truly is, while gently unpacking and sorting their own expectations and projections from the unfolding self of their child. This practice strengthens your role as your baby’s secure base, supporting her growing confidence, autonomy, and emerging sense of self.

Whether this is your first baby or not, our group offers a gentle, spacious opportunity to slow down, listen, and witness your baby as a capable, expressive, and deeply relational human being.
