Getting started is easy

We offer short and long-term counseling, and most clients typically meet with their therapist once a week for a 50-minute individual session or for a 75-minute group session.

After an initial conversation by phone,  we'll schedule a time to meet in person. Typically after 1-3  meetings with you, your child or teen, we'll offer our thoughts, observations and recommendations and work with you to map out the next steps towards positive change. We set goals; think with you about about how best to meet them therapeutically; talk about the markers of progress with each kid, teen, adult, couple and family; and plan how we'll actively track this progress together with you. With our younger kids and teens, we schedule regular parent meetings to facilitate collaboration, coaching, and shared understandings while also respecting privacy and confidentiality; with our older teens, we work with families to honor the very real developmental needs of teens for increased privacy and independence, while also balancing and encouraging some shared communication.

We schedule weekday and after-school appointments and offer limited weekend hours as well.  Nutritional counseling, Reiki, and Ayurvedic treatments may be scheduled for a longer period of time and will need to be discussed with individual practitioners.

Insurance and Fees

The  Center for Family Well-Being is an out-of-network practice, which we feel allows our clients increased privacy and more power and choice in the treatment process. Most of our clients find that their health insurance includes "out-of-network" benefits that cover a percentage of our practice fee; depending on your insurance, you may find reimbursement rates between 40-80%.

To determine if your insurance company provides reimbursement, contact your insurer directly.  Here are a few questions to ask about reimbursement eligibility:

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits to see a clinical social worker or other mental health professional?

  • If yes, what percentage is covered?

  • How many sessions are covered per year?

  • Do I have a deductible and has it been met?

  • What CPT codes are reimbursable?

  • What forms do I need to submit for reimbursement?
