Fall 2026: Letter from the Director
The Center was proud to take part in Chevy Chase Day on September 19. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hello to our wonderful table hosts, my daughter Sofia and her BFF Bella.
We're living in a tense moment. As adults, the daily news cycle can make the division and uncertainty seem almost tangible. And, of course, our children are absorbing the intensity of the world in their own ways as well.
Yet, closer to home, I’m reminded daily of how much goodness exists. We see it every day in the connections, conversations, and growth that happen at the Center. And perhaps that’s expected within a therapy practice. But we're seeing camaraderie bloom outside these walls, too. It happened most recently at Chevy Chase Day, where we had the chance to spend time with local families, meet neighbors, and simply soak up the hospitality of our community.
The Power of Human Connection
Social gatherings like this make me appreciate the power of human connection. Meeting people where they are, welcoming differences, and sharing experiences: these interactions soften our edges and ground us.
That’s one of the reasons group therapy is such a meaningful part of our work at the Center — especially for children and teens, and especially in this moment.
Our In Tune groups are spaces where kids can safely learn to express themselves, listen constructively, navigate differences, manage conflict, and build social skills alongside peers who are working through the same things. Groups also open the door to an experience many young people deeply need right now: the feeling that they belong.
A Space Where You’re Understood
In a world that can sometimes seem divided or overwhelming, having a space where children feel accepted and understood is more important than ever. If you’re curious about whether one of our fall after-school groups might be a good fit for your child, I invite you to take a look. This season, I hope you’re open to the human connections around you. There is so much we can’t control, but we can make time for one another. And we absolutely have time for you at the Center! Remember: Whatever you and your family are carrying right now, you don't have to carry it alone. We're here for you.
