This Moment Matters: Finding Balance
If you find yourself feeling overly stressed, unsettled, or just a little off, sometimes it’s a sign that one (or more) areas of your life are out of balance. Everything — your thoughts, body, emotions, and environment — is interconnected. When one piece falls out of sync, it can ripple into other areas, often in ways we don’t immediately recognize.
Center therapist Elizabeth Ebaugh suggests taking a mindful moment to check in with your whole self — mind, body, and spirit — to see what’s working and where you might need a reset. Here are a few simple questions to help you reflect and identify small shifts that can improve your overall well-being:
Mind
Are you feeling mentally overloaded or scattered?
Do you have enough quiet time to process your emotions and ideas?
What habits or routines help you feel mentally clear, and which ones leave you feeling drained?
Body
How are you nourishing yourself ? Are you eating in a way that energizes and sustains you?
Are you moving regularly in ways that feel good and restorative?
How’s your sleep? Do you wake up feeling rested?
Spirit
Do you have any grounding spiritual practices (breathing, journaling, meditation, prayer, time in nature)?
What environments make you feel inspired, and which ones feel depleting?
When was the last time you did something that made you feel deeply connected — to yourself, others, or something bigger?
As you reflect, notice how these areas interact. A restless mind can affect your body. A nourishing meal can shift your mood. The spaces you spend time in can either restore or exhaust you.
Making Time to Tune In
Once you’ve taken stock, ask yourself: Where would I like to make small shifts to feel more balanced? Maybe it’s setting boundaries around your screen time or news consumption, carving out space for a creative hobby, or simply remembering to pause and take deep breaths when life feels chaotic.
Rather than striving for a perfect balance, think of this as an ongoing practice of tuning in. The more you understand the connections between your mind, body, and spirit, the more attuned you become to what you truly need. Through mindfulness and small, intentional shifts, you can cultivate a deeper sense of balance — one that supports not just the moment, but your well-being as a whole.
