Experience

I am a Holistic Psychotherapist at The Center for Family Well-Being, with 15 years of experience working with families in the DC area. My career began in education, where I spent nine years as an elementary special education teacher, working with students with emotional and behavioral disabilities. Building on this experience, I transitioned to facilitating child-directed, outdoor, play-based groups for children and their caregivers.

Additionally, I have several years of experience working in early intervention, helping children enhance sensory and perceptual-motor skills, language development, cognition, and memory through sensory-rich environments and open-ended play scenarios. My passion for whole-person-centered care inspired me to shift my focus from education to mental health. Now, I am privileged to help children and families discover their best selves.

Therapeutic  Focus

I have always been passionate about working with children and their families. My experience as a special education teacher and as a mother of three provides me with a deep understanding of the diverse environments in which children interact. I utilize a combined approach, incorporating trauma-informed care, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness techniques to help children manage anxiety, depression, and emotional regulation.

Philosophy

I believe that as humans, we have an innate ability to change — sometimes we just need a bit of support or a new perspective. I love incorporating the great healing power of nature and fostering a deep connection to the outdoors to help children feel grounded and connected to the world around them.
