Liz Hagerman

LPC, BC-DMT

Experience

I have been an Associate Holistic Psychotherapist and Dance/Movement Therapist for The Center for Family Well-Being since 2020. I bring over 20 years combined pedagogical and therapeutic experience working with children and their parents. I developed the “Nourishing the Roots of Well-Being” parents and infants In Tune group, which is based on the Pikler Approach of supporting the parent/baby relationship in the postpartum year. I’m also the creator and teacher of the “Let’s Play” workshop for Grown Ups.

Therapeutic  Focus

I specialize in working with young children from birth to age 12 in individual  and Parent-child, attachment-based play therapy. I treat Anxiety, depression, emotional and behavioral dysregulation, childhood grief/loss, and trauma. I also work with adults in Parent Guidance sessions, and individual dance/movement therapy.

Philosophy

I believe all behavior is communication, and this belief is foundational in all of my work with children, infants, and parents. I have a deep respect for the innate competence of infants and young children and a passion for supporting the early years when the foundations for security and well-being are made. I have compassion for parents and believe in the power of the parent-child relationship to support healthy development. I love working alongside parents to help them understand their child’s behavior, and navigate the emotional ups and downs of parenthood.

I also believe in the power of play! Play is at the core of healing and connection to transformational creativity — at any age.
