Bridget McGuinness
MSW, LGSW (pending licensure)
Experience
I graduated from the University of Michigan School of Social Work in December 2025, and I began at The Center for Family Well-Being as a Provisionally Licensed Holistic Psychotherapist in January 2026. Previously, I completed a year-long clinical social work internship in Chesterfield, Michigan, providing individual and family therapy to clients with limited access to care. I also bring a strong background in psychology research, with a focus on belonging, peer victimization, depression, and anxiety.
Therapeutic Focus
I work with children ages 8 and up, and I especially enjoy supporting adolescents and young adults as they navigate life transitions. I have significant experience supporting individuals navigating family and relationship trauma, including challenges related to attachment, conflict, and relational stress. My clinical interests also include anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity development, relationships, and emotional regulation.
Philosophy
In my sessions, I take a strengths- and values-based, trauma-informed approach, emphasizing collaboration, safety, and trust within the therapeutic relationship. I weave a variety of approaches into my client work — tapping into my training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and integrated Play Therapy; Motivational Interviewing (MI); and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Ongoing learning is a passion of mine, and I plan to pursue advanced trainings in these modalities, as well as certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
